Last Sunday, I took erikagemzer.com to the spa for a little apricot scrub. I got rid of some dead content and started thinking about how to incorporate design concepts to better communicate my ideas and writing on the blog.
One thing that just wasn’t working anymore was the static landing page. I decided to move the blog content to the landing page. I love the way the new theme presents the blog posts with the photos and simple taglines about the content. Do you agree?
Another thing that wasn’t working was the way the blog posts looked. The content needed more space to breathe. It now looks much more like Medium, my favorite writing / content authoring platform.
Another thing was the intro to the book – the content of which I overhauled on Medium. I’d love to hear feedback on the rewrite. I feel like I’m finally honing my voice to where I want it to be, but then again I felt that way a year ago. What do you think? Would you want to read 100+ pages written by me?
Lastly, the composition of the site wasn’t allowing people to focus on the central message, which although I write about many things that I love, is about finding authenticity and living authentically.
What do you think? Better before, or better now?
